Hendre offers a range of programs dealing directly with issues affecting teenage boys and their transition into young adulthood.
These include:
- Bullying
- Self Esteem
- Relationships
- Binge drinking
- Peer pressure
- Self destructive behaviour
- Taking responsibility for one’s actions.
These programs have proven to be highly successful due to Hendre’s sensitive and challenging use of story as the primary medium through which he engages the male students and leads them into a far deeper and considered understanding of the issues being discussed.
Hendre has found (much to his relief!) that teenage boys respond very positively to the use of story and after many years of experience he has come to the conclusion that it is one of the best ways to communicate with them. He has found an almost universal hunger in boys to hear and discuss the issues that arise from a challenging and relevant story that candidly explores each issue.
Hendre has the ability to take the male students and teachers that he works with into a reflective and responsive space, a space often avoided by men. Once the male students have experienced this space they have shown a greater awareness and respect for the vulnerabilities that all men and boys share. They find it liberating.
